    Description

    I have the honor and privilege of selling the collection of an avid and discerning collector of Mauchline Ware consisting of transfer, checker, Parian and tartan ware with a smattering of a few other finishes. I will be listing them in bite size batches over the next several months so that over time collectors can absorb the depth and breadth of the collection. This gentleman amassed an amazing collection of pieces, some of which I have never seen before and I have seen many collectors' collections over the years. This needle packet case has a large, crisp transfer of Harwarden Castle.
    Hawarden Castle is a house in Hawarden, Flintshire, Wales. It was the estate of the former British prime minister William Ewart Gladstone, having previously belonged to the family of his wife, Catherine Glynne. Built in the mid-18th century, it was later enlarged and externally remodelled in the Gothic taste
    .
    Inside the  case is lined with red silk and there are two pouches to store sewing needle packets. The silk lining has come away from the case in one area , near the clasp, that can be seen in the photo.
    On the back of the case it has the crest of foresters and it says Made from the Tree Felled By the Right Hon. W.E. Gladstone. His signature appears underneath

    The piece measures 2 1/8 tall, 3.75" long or wide and is 1/2" deep. It is in overall excellent condition with no noticeable flaws, except as previously noted, but please look at the pictures to see the overall condition.
